What hours is the Document Delivery Service available?
Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST, on days that the Law Library is open.

Do you have same-day service?
No. Unfortunately, due to the demands of our Subscription Service, we are unable to provide same-day service for our Document Delivery clients. Next-day service is available with rush service, after payment is received.
Can I borrow books from the Law Library or other Columbia libraries through the Document Delivery Service?
No. Only members of our Subscription Service may borrow Law Library books. If you wish to borrow a book from a different Columbia library, you need to get in touch with the Library Information Office (LIO).
Can I order copies from electronic resources as well as from printed material found at the Law Library?
Yes, copies can be requested from the HeinOnline and Elgaronline databases. All other electronic databases available at Columbia cannot be accessed through the Document Delivery Service. We also offer copying from material in other Columbia libraries on the Morningside campus.
Is there a rush fee for expedited orders?
Yes, an extra $50.00 is charged per item. Turnaround time is within one business day of receiving payment.
Do you charge royalty fees for copying?
The library is registered with the Copyright Clearance Center. If copyright permissions are available for the request, we will offer the option to purchase the permissions. In certain cases, we are required to purchase the permissions, and we will include that charge in the cost estimate we provide you.
Do you offer research service?
No. Research service is reserved for members of our Subscription Service.
Are you able to provide scans from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directories?

How do I receive my order?
We scan the documents and send them as PDF attachments via email. Requests are filled within 2-3 business days following payment by credit card or bank transfer via PayPal. Please note that prepayment is required.
How do I pay for my order?
Payment is due after approval to proceed with the request. Payment must be made by credit card or bank transfer through PayPal. We will send a link to the invoice, and once payment has been received, we will proceed with the request.
Can you provide legal advice?
No. We are not allowed to give you any kind of legal advice. Please check with your bar association or other local legal resources.
May I come to the Law Library to do my own research?
We do not facilitate access to the Law Library through the Document Delivery Service. This benefit is reserved for Subscription Service members.
